The music video by band "Wallows" is different to the other two examples through a more creative use of lighting, editing and modes of production. The video begins with the song name and band being shown on an old-school car radio, a running theme throughout all three videos I have analysed is this authentic 'old-school' use of props, editing and mise-en-scene to create an overall theme to the video. This is something I want to partially adopt into my own video through the use of a vintage tape player or something along the lines of vintage music production etc.
Editing: They have used a variety of editing styles to produce this video including different filters to add humour and character to the final product. For example, throughout the video they used a fisheye filter in order to create a sense of old-style editing, this effectivelyenhances the theme of the narrative in terms of adding humour etc. As well as this some parts of the video are accompanied with yellow subtitles, similar to those in old style 80s TV and music videos, this is used within the speech sections in which interrupt the song which adds to the narrative. At the end of the video editing and change in mise-en-scene has been used to make it seem as though the van the band are in falls off of a cliff, however this is does in such a way and created through handmade modelling. Which is purposefully obviously handmade to reflect the intended timeframe the band is attempting to reflect, this develops the theme of the video further.
Mise-en-scene: In terms of mise-en-scene within this 'Wallows' music video is largely reflects that of a 90s- early 00s teenage boy aesthetic. This is shown through the varying settings shown within the video, such as the burger drive-thru restaurant and the most used scenery of the inside of the van. The van is a good example of how editing has been used as well as props to establish the video as a whole, linking back to editing the way in which the band members are filmed 'driving' the van is done in such a way to make it seem like a badly made teenage movie, with the the camera being still and directly opposite the moving vehicle. As well as this the inside of the van is used as the site of performance for the members with a full drum set, guitars and lighting as well as space to dance etc. This is the recurring mise-en-scene and helps to portray the narrative and theme of the characters and video.
Camerawork: The camerawork throughout the video is used effectively and complementary to the pace of the music, this is shown through fast pace, manual camera movements and a large variety of different camera angles and shots. Some creative shots have been used to create depth and dimension to the video such as through the drive through hole of the burger restaurant and 'over the shoulder' shots with theband member singing in the van and other band members dancing in the background to create a difference in perception. These types of shots are also done in such a way that creates a sense of humour within the video which is what the narrative is attempting to do.
